When an emergency occurs, we rarely know what to do.  Please share this information with your friends.  Dental Care of Avulsed teeth is rare but important to remember.  Framingham Dental Emergencies occur as well as in other areas of Metro west.

When playing contact sports, wear a protective mouth piece.  I provide three types of UnderArmour mouthwear for my patients to choose.

If you have a trauma, the best thing is to contact your dentist immediately or proceed to the hospital and have the oral surgeon on call contacted.  If your tooth completely pops out (Avulsed). Place the tooth in the fold of your cheek to keep it moist, or place it is a saline solution or milk. Contact a dentist.  Often if replaced in your mouth properly within the first few hours of trauma DSCN0484Basketballand then ligated to the adjacent teeth you will have a chance to retain your tooth.

Recently a young man arrived at my office over 36 hours after his tooth got knocked out of his mouth. He did not contact the office immediately. He did not keep the tooth moist. He was not wearing the protective mouth piece he had purchased.  Unfortunately, this young man has no chance of keeping his natural tooth and now faces a long dental journey to replace what mother nature had provided.
