Framingham Cosmetic Dentist Looks At The Elements of Smile Style

cosmetic dentistry imageWhen you choose a new haircut or clothing, you look for styles that flatter your own face and body—not someone else’s. You may take inspiration from what you see on others, but in the end it’s about what looks best on you.

Shouldn’t the same hold true when opting for cosmetic dentistry? Not everyone has teeth that perfectly complement their appearance, but our team at the office of Dr. Janice E. Spada can help any Framingham dental clients

Factors That Determine Your Perfect Smile

Facial analysis plays an important role in cosmetic procedures. The shape of your face should also determine in part the position and shape of your teeth. When a smile appears high and wide, it may be that the teeth are disproportionate to the face or slightly off-balance. In other words, the ideal size for your teeth depends on your lips, mouth, and face. How do they look from the front? From the side? What other factors determine the ideal smile?

  • Position of the nose, lips, cheekbones, and eyes within the face
  • Lip and gum lines
  • Arch form

We will address these questions during your consultation. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that your smile appears natural and flatters your face.

Cosmetic Dentistry in Framingham, MA

Porcelain veneers: If you’ve ever gone to the movies or watched an awards show, you’ve probably seen porcelain veneers in action, though you may not have known it at the time. Veneers are ideal for anyone who wishes to correct multiple minor cosmetic issues, such as stains that cannot be removed by traditional whitening methods, chips, gaps, unevenness, and slight crookedness. Thin, luminous layers of porcelain can be custom-tinted and shaped to achieve the desired effect.

Dental bonding: Bonding is an economical alternative to porcelain veneers. Unlike veneers, however, the bonding procedure requires only one visit to our Sudbury, MA dentist office. After preparing the tooth surface, composite resin is applied. A special light cures and hardens the resin, which is then carefully shaped. Bonding is less stain-resistant than veneers.

Invisible braces: Patients who envision straighter teeth now have the opportunity to achieve their ideal smile without the bulky, uncomfortable metal hardware that comes with wearing traditional braces. Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners—similar to what an athlete might wear—that gradually and subtly, straightens your teeth. You can easily remove the aligners to eat, so you needn’t worry about food becoming trapped in your braces. Every two weeks or so, you will return to our office to receive a new set of aligners.

Teeth whitening: Some of our patients are blessed with perfectly sized, straight teeth that need only a hint of brightening. Choose from Zoom chair side whitening in our office, or opt for a take-home whitening kit that allows you to lighten your teeth in your downtime.
